Annotation | The Department of Health (DoH) has issued guidance on the provision of continence services. The guidance emphasises not only the need for primary care (at practice and primary care group/primary care trust - PCG/PCT - levels) to play a larger role, but also the scope for more efficient services delivering improved health care. The Continence Foundation has published "Incontinence: a challenge and an opportunity for primary care" as a handout for use with decision-makers and decision-influencers. It highlights facts concerning the high prevalence and heavy costs of incontinence, possible effective treatments, and quality of life implications. It also suggests a model for action PCG level, and provides references on clinical governance and audit. (RH). |
