AnnotationIschaemic heart disease (IHD) is the largest cause of heart disease. This document outlines clinical need and practice, the technology, evidence, implications for the NHS, further research, implementation, and clinical audit advice. Appendix C - Patient information - is designed to support production of information leaflets, and explains IHD, and what NICE recommend about the use of coronary heart disease stents. This guidance represents the views of the Institute's Appraisal Committee, which was arrived at after careful consideration of the available evidence. The guidance will be reviewed in April 2003.
