Annotation | The use of geographic information systems (GIS) in general and their application to gerontological data in particular is explained. Maps derived from United Nations and statistical data from other international organisations are presented on these themes: average life expectancy at birth; expected number of years of formal schooling; percentages of the population aged 60+, living in urban regions, married women (15-49) using contraception, and those aged 25-60 who are unemployed.
