Annotation | As the number of older drivers increases, distinguishing safe from unsafe older drivers will become an increasing public health concern. This study investigated the medical and functional factors associated with vehicle crashes in a cohort of 174 older drivers in Alabama. Results showed that variables related to function, medication use, affect, neurological disease, and visuo-cognitive skills were associated with vehicle crash involvement. The results suggest that multifactorial assessments are warranted to identify at-risk older drivers. (AKM). |
