Annotation | Older people's arm movements are normally slower, more variant, and less smooth than their younger counterparts. The aim of this study was to examine whether Tai Chi practice can reduce the inconsistency of arm movement force output in older adults. A group of 20 older adults participated in an 8-week exercise programme (12 in Tai Chi, and 8 in a locomotor activity, walking or jogging). The findings suggest that Tai Chi participants significantly reduced more pressure variability than the participants in the locomotor activity group after 8 weeks of practice. (AKM). |
