Annotation | This response from Action on Elder Abuse (AEA) involves four key areas of concern which focus on the Care Standards Bill's ability to both prevent abuse and take action against known abusers of all vulnerable adults. These are: a) the lack of a clear timetable for all workers to be registered with the General Social Care Council; b) inadequacies in the proposed register of abusers; c) not all domiciliary care will be regulated; and d) the exclusion of regulation of day care and some sheltered housing from the legislation enabling loopholes for the continuing employment of abusers. A fuller response to the Bill is not planned. (KJ / RH). |
