Annotation | Videos prepared by the relatives of 30 verbally disruptive American nursing home residents to be shown to residents were systematically observed and coded for content and mode of presentation. Most of the time in the video was spent talking about a family's past or present, was characterised by an overall feeling of respect, and did not show great variability in the features examined. Videos coded as showing more love and those not talking about current events were associated with higher affectiveness relating to verbally disruptive behaviour (VDB). This treatment proved to be an appropriate and rewarding avenue for involving family members in the care of their frail institutionalised older relatives. (RH). |
