Annotation | Older people are spending more time travelling for recreation than ever before. The author considers what advice should be given to older clients to reduce the associated risks, and to raise their awareness of particular travel health needs. Topics dealt with include: diarrhoea; air travel; sea cruising; increased sensitivity to heat; sun exposure; malaria prevention; tetanus vaccination; and the importance of travel insurance. In working with older people to assess the suitability of a particular destination, the most important consideration is that conditions of travel are suited to a person's physical condition. (RH). |
