Annotation | Aggressive behaviour is commonly observed in nursing homes for older people, which can cause distress to carers, and lead to hospitalisation, over-medication and physical restraint. Environmental factors can influence aggressive behaviour. A 6-month prospective study was undertaken to examine the relationship between aggressive behaviour and environmental characteristics of nursing homes in Melbourne. Findings revealed no significant relationship between aggressive behaviour and environmental characteristics of the nursing homes. Methodological issues may explain the lack of this association. Suggestions for further research are included. (AKM). |
