Annotation | A range of complex and specific visual impairments and perceptual problems can compound the difficulties faced by a person with dementia, as explained in this third article in a series on communication. These include: diseases of the eye affecting peripheral vision (macular degeneration of the retina, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy); drug-induced problems; colour blindness; difficulties in recognition (agnosia); and illusions and misperceptions.
