Annotation | Statements of values and philosophy of care have good intentions, but too often are not translated into practice. The authors explain the development of a practical value framework within which the person with dementia is always at the centre. The value framework for dementia states, "My personhood and communication are maintained", and this is achieved by: maximising personal control; enabling choice; respecting dignity; preserving continuity; and promoting equity. Examples are outlined of projects where the value framework is being used. (RH). |
