What do people with dementia most value in life? | Author(s) | Chris Dabbs |
Journal title | Journal of Dementia Care, vol 7, no 4, July/August 1999 |
Pages | pp 16-19 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Quality of life ; Personal relationships ; Emotions ; Listening ; Pilot ; Preston. |
Annotation | Research so far suggests that it is the social, interpersonal and emotional aspects of life and care, along with physical health, that matter most to people with dementia. The author describes a pilot project in Preston, which found evidence to support these conclusions, and offers a framework to help improve quality of care and well-being. Preston Community Health Council has published a report of the project, "Please knock and come in for some tea: the views of people with dementia, and improving their quality of life." (RH). |
