Annotation | The Career Education Programme (CEP) has been developed by psychiatric services in Cambridgeshire for carers of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The CEP aims to to reduce carer stress, by stress management and problem solving approaches to challenging issues, and to increase carer knowledge about dementia, resources and services. The authors describe the process of implementing this 3-day course, the structure and organisation of the programme, and the importance of the facilitator's role. An evaluation of the CEP, its advantages and disadvantages are outlined. The authors conclude that further research is needed to validate the programme's apparent positive outcomes to date. (RH). |
