AnnotationThe main findings from the People's Panel Research, conducted by MORI on behalf of the Service First Unit at the Cabinet Office. The purpose of the analysis was to look at attitudes of people aged 50 and over towards public services. The report is divided into eight sections, each looking at a key issue for Government's relationship with older people: public service generally, health, housing, transport, community involvement, one stop shops, and electronic government. Expectations of public services in the 50+ age group vary considerably. While many have low expectations, an unwillingness to criticise, and higher levels of satisfaction, these factors should not lead to the conclusion that the age group does not have particular needs and concerns. If public services are to improve, it is vital that older people (especially the socially disadvantaged) are encouraged to raise their expectations. (RH).
