Annotation | More than 10 million older people receive state pensions and benefits. Although the system works smoothly in most cases, complicated or poor administration can lead to a range of problems: loss of income; time and expense in trying to sort out problems; and worry and uncertainty. This paper is based on the experiences of those contacting Age Concern locally or nationally, and includes comments from 16 information, advice or advocacy staff working in local Age Concern organisations. Where appropriate, the paper gives recommendations or approaches that could improve the situation. (RH). |
