AnnotationAgitation has been defined as a significant problem in dementia patients. A new measure of agitation, the Agitated Behavior in Dementia scale (ABID) was evaluated in this study. The ABID consists of 16 items designed specifically to evaluate frequency of and caregiver reaction to common agitated behaviour in community-residing dementia patients. The scale was administered to 148 community-residing patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), living with a spouse or a relative. Results revealed that the reliability of the ABID was excellent, and it was confirmed by correlations with related measures and lack of correlation with unrelated constructs. (AKM).
