AnnotationThe reasons for discrepancy in the diagnosis of dementia between physicians and neuropsychologists were examined in this study, through a retrospective analysis of data from the Canadian Study of Health and Aging. A total of 1879 older people were tested for dementia using various screening instruments. Results showed that physicians and neuropsychologists had different, complementary approaches to the diagnosis of dementia. Identification of dementia in subjects with depression or low education were difficult, and new strategies are required. (AKM).
