AnnotationThe purpose of the review is to assess the extent to which people in the East Riding of Yorkshire are well served by social services. It considers: how services are arranged for individual people; how the care needs of the population are planned for; how the authority manages performance and quality; and how well available resources are being used. The Joint Review found that many people of the East Riding are well served, but this is not yet consistent, and some people do not have their needs met. Examples of good practice are cited, including the East Riding Intermediate Care Scheme (providing follow-up after discharge from hospital), home care accreditation, and developing quality in residential and nursing homes. Services are compared with those of a group of similar authorities. Priority issues identified by the review include: continuing to develop the rehabilitation agenda; more active management; more effective joint working; involving users and carers; and ensuring capacity to cope with future changes.
