Annotation | Because the field of gerontology education is relatively small and young, it includes a diversity of opinions regarding many programme aspects. For instance, there has been limited agreement on whether there should be a core content for all gerontology programmes, regardless of their particular focus or level of credential offered. This study examined the perceptions of alumni of the instructional programme of the Andrus Gerontology Center in Los Angeles regarding the usefulness of four widely required courses, the physiological, psychological, social, and policy aspects of ageing. The majority of alumni reported that all four of these courses were very useful, supporting the position that a core content for all programmes should be required. (AKM). |
