Annotation | Intergenerational decision-making in Singapore and Taiwan was examined in this study. The focus was on older individuals and the extent to which they reported being involved in influencing important family matters. The data were collected in focus group interviews and household-level surveys of people aged 60 years and over in Singapore and Taiwan. Both survey samples were national probability samples. Findings revealed that the extent to which older people were consulted in family decisions declined with age and failing health in both countries. Other factors affecting intergenerational influence included place of living (rural or urban), home ownership, employment status, and education. (AKM). |
