Annotation | Beginning in 1997, the Presence team set out to challenge stereotypes of older people as predominantly frail, needy and disabled, by focusing - on both the personal and social level - on the opportunities presented by ageing. This European Communities (EC) funded research programme brought together researchers, designers and commercial partners from Norway, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK. Specifically, the team considered new ways of designing information and communication technology being used by people in their homes and communities in the context of changing lifestyles and social relations. This publication is a summary of the programme's goals, innovative methodologies and results. (RH). |
