The main objective of this report is to synthesise and evaluate how governments of the region are dealing with demographic developments following the adoption of the ICPD Programme of Action (Cairo, 1994) and the recommendations of the European Population Conference (Geneva, 1993). The main sections of this report deal with the five priority themes selected for the Budapest meeting: fertility, family and gender issues; reproductive rights, sexual and reproductive health; mortality and health; population ageing; and international migration. The section on population ageing specifically considered active ageing, social and income security, and care. (RH). |
