Annotation | Linkage House, a building providing housing for lower income older people in East Harlem, New York, promotes independence and successful "ageing in place" and is an example of partnership between housing and services. This article describes the principles guiding its development and design: the continuum of care, care co-ordination, "ageing in place", and shared housing. A partnership approach was also seen as the most effective way of developing housing in the area served. Criteria for housing of residents and the programmes offered are outlined, along with lessons learned and future developments. (RH). |
