AnnotationThe Elderly Assessment System (EASY-Care) is a multidimensional tool intended for use throughout Europe for routine combined medical and social assessment of older people in primary and community settings. This study compared EASY-Care data obtained during nurse-administered annual health checks in two populations of older people: 179 from a relatively deprived area in Belfast, and 238 from south Hampshire. Compared to people in south Hampshire, the people in Belfast had higher relative risk of having fair/poor self-rated health and lower relative risk of having good/sufficient accommodation. People in Belfast had a higher relative risk of being dependent in activities of daily living (ADLs). The results demonstrate the ability of data generated by assessment system to discriminate between populations of older people when used as part of routine practice. (AKM).
