Annotation | In August 1998, a study was carried out in three communities in Tete province, central Mozambique, to determine the social and economic effects of disasters, wars and forced migration of older people. The inhabitants of these communities have suffered directly or indirectly from three wars as well as droughts and floods. The paper concludes that services for the older population should include support for the family, followed by community-based programmes. (RH). |
